Day Zero

Good Morning from Lisbon, Portugal!

Sam and I are at the airport right now awaiting our connecting flight to London which unfortunately was pushed from a one hour layover to a 6 1/2 hour layover.

We are tired. These past 3 days have been hectic with us trying to wrap everything up and get ready for this trip. Monday we packed up our entire condo, Tuesday we picked up our U-Haul, packed it, transported it to storage and then unpacked it, and today we spent running errands, packing our bags for this trip and traveling. I cannot wait to lie down and crash. Nearly there!

We flew Air Portugal - or TAP. It was our first time, and we were pleasantly surprised. Pillows, blankets and headphones were waiting on our spacious seats. We were served dinner, which was a salad course, entrée (we both had chicken) and dessert - and it was delicious. We each has two glasses of renowned Portuguese wine (white for Sam and red for me), coffee, and then later served snacks. All complimentary. No one tried to push us to apply for a credit card and the flight attendants served generous pours and got me eye drops when I needed them.

There was plenty of in-flight entertainment choices, from movies, TV shows, and even lessons on how to speak Portuguese. Sam watched the movie Blended and I watched a couple documentaries on Portuguese wine and then an Andrea Bocelli concert. I find it hard to sleep on planes but I was able to lay down since we had a whole middle row to ourselves and try to rest a bit. I would 100% fly them again and Sam agrees.

Anyways, its 7:15AM here and 1:15AM back at home. I am certainly feeling jetlagged, but it is all worth it. This is the trip of a lifetime for us. On our flight, I couldn't help but feel an overwhelming sense of gratitude for this opportunity and I am so ready to soak up every bit of this journey. In a few hours we'll be tucked away in our hotel, Big Ben and bustling London right outside our door. Tomorrow is a full day of exploring the city.

Every day I'll be doing these 'diary' entry posts. Feel free to follow along on our adventures and let me know in the comments if there's something you want us to see or do or eat!

Until tomorrow my friends! Happy travels!

Hi! I'm Keely!

We love to find hidden gems, eat delicious food and stretch our dollar (euro/yen/whatever!) so we can indulge on unforgettable experiences. Come down the rabbit hole with us!
