Day 8 - Amsterdam
Since yesterday was such a high, I guess it only seemed right that today was such a wash out.
It down poured all day long which really inhibited our ability to walk to any of our destinations and Ubers were expensive. We made it to our morning reservation at Rijksmuesum and hit all the must sees. It's a huge place and one could probably spend half a day looking at everything on display. My favorites were the portraits done by Johannes Vermeer. They were stunning, with their colors and life like eyes, it made you feel like they were in the room with you.
After walking through, we ran over through the down pour to the café across the street and had fried with mayonnaise and broojie, two popular dishes in Amsterdam. Sitting and listening to the rain sipping our cappuccinos we tried to figure out our next move. We decided to find a Brown Café, and continue on a food and drink tour. We ended up finding one close by, played cards and ordered soup and I got an Irish coffee.
We ended up on the Red Light District in the evening, It was shocking, and I will leave it at that.
Cold and wet, we decided to turn in and go back to the hotel to enjoy their amenities. A soak in the hot tub, rainfall shower, take out and a movie, we ended the day on a high note.
Tomorrow we leave for France! Our first stop is Paris. I would 100% return to Amsterdam as there is so much more to do and see here and we love the vibe so much. I will miss it but looking forward to a week in the City of Lights!
Au Revoir my dears! Happy travels!
