Day 18 - Beaune/Valentine's Day
Happy Love Day everyone!
Sam and I didn't have much planned for the day and when we did decide on something, there was always something that made us change our mind.
What we did plan however, was breakfast in bed! Our lovely hosts supplied us with a picnic basket full of goodies. There was orange juice and milk to drink and all the fixings for coffee, tea and espresso. There were croissant's with local fresh jams and FRENCH BUTTER! Creamy yogurt and a whole baguette to round it all out.

We used the OJ for mimosas with a bottle of champagne we bought the night before, whipped up some espresso and sat to spread ungodly amounts of butter and jam onto our fresh flaky croissants, It was the best breakfast I've had so far on this trip and was so sad when it came time to eat the last bite.
We changed our plans from dining at a Michelin starred restaurant (cancelling our reservations), to possible spa appointments (all booked up by the time we decided), to bowling and a diner where they served American junk food (transportation was too expensive and complicated), so we settled for an easy day in town. We picked up chocolates at a local chocolatier, walked around town and went to the market to pick up all the fixings for dinner we were going to make ourselves.

We grabbed breaded chicken, mozzarella, tomato sauce, spaghetti and challenged ourselves on making a delicious dinner in our tiny kitchen with one stove top. The table was set with flowers, champagne and paper towels - classy as always. The dinner was a success, aside from the fact 75% of the pasta ended up in the sink due to not having a strainer.
After a day of eating and relaxing, we curled up with our favorite Netflix show and chocolates until sweet slumber came for us.
It wasn't a day we expected, but maybe it was just what we needed.
I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine's Day sweethearts!
Love,
Keely
